This website has been set up to help raise funds for Wood Green, the Animals Charity, following the death of my amazing, cat Marley Fish, who was himself originally adopted from the Heydon branch of Wood Green.
The Real Marley
Marley (aka “Fishcakes”!) was an extremely special cat indeed. Before he found his cosy home with me he had been both cruelly dumped as a very young cat and survived as a stray through one of the coldest of recent winters. He was affectionate, great company and had a ton of charisma.
One of his favourite tricks was to hide in the shadows then leap out and attack your shins. He wouldn’t bite, instead he would bash his teeth quite hard against your bones, then sprint off back into the shadows.
He died in February 2012 after being hit by a car that was travelling way too fast for the snowy conditions that we were experiencing at the time.
Wood Green is a really fantastic charity, devoted to taking in and rescuing unwanted animals and finding them secure and loving homes.
From humble beginnings in 1924 Wood Green, The Animals Charity, has grown to become one of the leading animal welfare organisations in the UK.
Wood Green takes in animals of all shapes and sizes. As well as cats and dogs, they also find loving new homes for thousands of chickens, rabbits, mice, guinea pigs, goats, sheep, ferrets and more.
Wood Green comprises of 3 branches in London, Heydon and Godmanchester and the charity cares for and rehomes over 5,500 animals each year.
Please visit Wood Green’s site for more details of their fabulous work: www.woodgreen.org.uk and if you think you can give a Wood Green animal a good home, then do. They will give so much to you in return!
